About Us

Youth in Action is a student-led civic initiative dedicated to empowering young people to take an active role in shaping their communities. We bridge the gap between youth voices and decision-makers by creating direct opportunities to engage with local government, nonprofit leaders, and advocacy groups.

Our Story

Youth in Action began in 2025 when a group of high school students in Irvine recognized a gap: while peers could memorize constitutional amendments for a test, many had never attended a city council meeting or spoken with a policymaker. We saw a need to transform civic learning from a classroom topic into a lived experience.

What started as one summer seminar at the local library, featuring city officials, nonprofit leaders, and student activists, quickly grew into a multi-event series drawing youth from across school districts. Today, Youth in Action hosts regular workshops, speaker panels, and a youth-led podcast, building a community where young voices are heard and valued.

Our Mission

To amplify youth voices in civic spaces, equip students with the tools to lead change, and build lasting connections between young leaders and their communities.

Our Vision

We envision a generation of informed, engaged, and confident youth who not only understand civic processes but actively influence them to create a more just, equitable, and inclusive society.
